The borough of Avon is located in the southeastern section of Monmouth County in the state of New Jersey. The coastal town takes up 345.6 acres, of which 76.8 acres is water. With the help of Robert C. Love, surveyor, and F.G. Harrison, an engineer, he began developing the area in 1897. Initially, Batchelor wanted to make the area the home of his tobacco firm but converted the land for real estate development instead. In 1883, the Avon Inn was built. It was incorporated into a borough in 1900.
