The borough of Bogota is located in the south-central region of Bergen County in the state of New Jersey. The borough covers 512 acres and includes 5.25% water. The Hackensack River forms the western border. Some of the main roadways that travel through the town are Main Street, River Road, Palisade Avenue, and Queen Anne Road. The borough was officially incorporated on November 14 in 1894, under its first mayor Frederick W. Cane. It took land from Ridgefield Township, and in 1895 some of its land was taken for Teaneck Township. The community was named after one of the earliest settlers, the Bogert family.
