Getting to Know Bradley Park, NJ

The personal injury attorneys in Bradley Park, NJ, at Garden State Justice Group, have sponsored the following article offering a look into the neighborhood.

Bradley Park

Bradley Park is located within the Neptune Township situated in the southeastern section of Monmouth County, New Jersey. Corlies Avenue, or Route 33, forms the community's northern border, while the Bradley Beach railway forms the eastern. Atkins and Ridge Avenues run north and south through the neighborhood's center.

History

Neptune Township was officially incorporated in 1879. However, some of the communities were removed to form Neptune City in 1881 until it was deemed unconstitutional, and they were restored in 1921. Some of the other communities that help make up Neptune Township include the following:

  • West Grove
  • Whitesville
  • Hamilton
  • Green Grove

The area can be credited for the building boom that took place in the late 19th century. The population was growing strong, and developers Frank Appleby and H.C. Winsor converted the once meadowlands into the residential haven it is now. During 1900, the community was the most heavily populated in the township. The area was named after James A. Bradley, a prominent landowner and the founder of Asbury Park. Bradley also owned the neighborhood park, Bradley Park, which dates back to the 19th century. The park offers the current community the following amenities:

  • playground equipment
  • open fields
  • exercise equipment
  • covered pavillions

Neighborhood

Real estate in the area is more expensive than 39.9% of other New Jersey neighborhoods. The average home price is $329,687, and rent runs $2,124 per month. Many shops line State Highway 35, creating a great business corridor, but the area has held tight to its residential character. With many of the homes built before 1940, it offers many different architectural styles and charm.

Located just on the border of the town is the Bradley Beach Station. The railway station depot opened in 1893 but was rebuilt in 1912 for the Central Railroad of New Jersey by Joseph Osgood. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and is still offering transport for the community's people. Track 1 runs to Belmar, and Track 2 heads toward Long Branch, Hoboken, or New York.
