The unincorporated community is situated in Monroe Township in Gloucester County, New Jersey. Williamstown is to its south and Turnersville to the north. History

Originally the area belonged in the Washington Township and was part of Camden County. It was not until 1871 that it shifted over to Gloucester County. In 1959 it was formally recognized as the Monroe Township, named after President James Monroe.
