The borough of Lawnside is situated in the northern half of Camden County in New Jersey. The community takes up 915.2 acres of land. It became known as "Snow Hill" and "Free Haven" before it was named after the train station constructed along the Atlantic City Railroad in 1907 by the Reading Railroad.
Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, located on South White Horse Pike, was built in 1905. However, this was the fourth to be constructed o the property. The church began in 1815 with just twelve members and held services in the homes of the members. The first church structure was built on land purchased for $40. Unfortunately, a fire destroyed the original log cabin church in 1835.

Mott's original items can still be seen in the building, like a cabinet in the kitchen area. It is one of the oldest buildings within the borough.
