Osbornes Mills

Osbornes Mills is an unincorporated community within Wall Township. It is located in the southern region of Monmouth County, New Jersey. Some of the other communities that help form the township include Sea Girt, South Belmar, Spring Lake Heights, and Spring Lake. Algers Mills is to the north of the neighborhood, and Allenwood is to the southwest. The main roadways in the town are New Bedford Road, Route 35, Allaire Road, and Warren Avenue.

Allaire Road that travels through the town was named after the prominent landowner, James P. Allaire. His village of Allaire, the neighbor to Osbornes Mills, dates back as far as 1822. The township of Wall was incorporated in 1851, and over the years, many areas have broken off to become their own municipalities.

Home prices in the area are more expensive than 86.4% of the neighborhoods in the state and average $665,678. Rent is lower than 58.5% of other New Jersey neighborhoods, averaging $2,149 per month. This suburban neighborhood is predominantly owner-occupied and consists primarily of single-family homes and townhouses.

Just off of Allaire Road, past Osborne Pond, is a 14-acre farm that is home to a herd of alpaca. The Edel Haus Farm was established in 2010, and aside from the farm, they also have a store. The store is full of products made with the very fibers of the farm, the Alpaca yarn. They send the alpaca fibers to be spun at a mill into yarn. Some of the items they have in their store for purchase include:

  • capes
  • scarves
  • hats & gloves
  • blankets
  • socks
  • stuffed animals

In addition to regular guest visits to the farm to see the animals, they offer organized group visits for the following:

  • Brownies
  • Cub Scouts
  • high school photography class
  • senior group outings
  • special needs groups
