The neighborhood of Dayton is located in the city of Newark, situated in the southeastern region of Essex County, New Jersey. The town's zip code is 07114 that also incorporates some of the surrounding areas. The community borders are created by Elizabeth Avenue, East Peddie Street, and Frelinghuysen Avenue. History

The town was named after the American politician Jonathan Dayton. He was known as being the youngest to sign the United States Constitution. He was also known for his roles as the following:

Neighborhood

The majority of the neighborhood is comprised of the Weequahic Park. The park was built upon the former Waverly Fairgrounds in 1899.
