Grantwood

The community of Grantwood is located in the Cliffside Park and Ridgefield boroughs within Bergen County, New Jersey. The nearby communities include Edgewood, Fort Lee, North Bergen, and Bergenwood. The main roadways in the area include Anderson Avenue, Grove Avenue, Lincoln Avenue, and Cresent Avenue. 

History

The area was established as an artist's colony in 1913. Man Ray and Samuel Halpert helped form the artistic center for the group of artists known as the "Others." The streets throughout the town were named in homage to the town's artistic history. Some of these include:

• Studio Road
• Art Lane

The area published its first issue of the magazine, The Glebe, in 1913. Alfred Kreymborg came out with Others: A Magazine of the New Verse along with the partnership of Skipwith Cannell, Wallace Stevens, and William Carlos Williams. The founders of the magazine featured some of their own works along with the following artists: 

• Maxwell Bodenheim
• Mina Loy
• Marianne Moore 
• Ezra Pound
• Carl Sandburg

The area was also home to the E.K.Lincoln Studio that was built in 1915 on Berden Boulevard. The film studio was owned and ran by E.K. Lincoln, the actor and moviemaker. Many productions were made in the studio, and between 1916 and 1971, Fox Film rented the studio. Some of the films that were done in the studio included:
