The borough of Metuchen is located in the northern section of Middlesex County, in the state of New Jersey. The borough spans 1,824 acres and contains 0.07% water, such as the pond in Thomas Park. The town was initially part of the Woodbridge Township until it seceded and became its own identity in 1870. It officially formed a borough in 1900. It became the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen seat in 1981, including Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, and Warren counties.
