Stockton

The neighborhood of Stockton is located within the city of Camden in the northwestern region of Camden County, New Jersey. The neighboring communities include Rosedale, Dudley, Marlton, Wellwood, and Merchantville. Federal Street forms the northern border as South 27th Street creates the western. Highland and Myrtle Avenues form the southern borders, and South 42nd Street creates the eastern. 

History

On February 23, 1859, the neighborhood was incorporated into a township by the New Jersey Legislature. It took land from the Township of Delaware, which is now called Cherry Hill. Merchantville took part of the land in 1874, and Pennsauken took some in 1892. The town was annexed from Camden City in 1899 but is recognized as part of it to this day despite its own United States Postal Service located off Federal Street.
